Matsu is the Japanese word for “pine.” The tree is a bridge between cultural inspiration and our sense of place. A connection between its deeply rooted significance in Japanese culture and the rare Torrey Pines that uniquely dot the San Diego landscape. Matsu follows a new light in modern Japanese cooking while paying homage to centuries-old tradition. We honor the philosophies behind the culture and its cuisine while expressing the local terroir and what grows naturally around us, as the Japanese would. The menu is our study of pristine, simple ingredients, the overall experience a balance of ritual and serenity, providing a sense of omotenashi, or Japanese hospitality.

Our a la carte menu is available nightly, 10-course tasting begins at $175/pp and our Vegan 10-course tasting is $130/pp. A5 Wagyu can be added to the 10-course tasting for an additional $55/pp.
